Very poor service and prices for tasteless food and drinks. They refunded us the difference but the meal left a very bad taste. We told the desk person we ordered chicken paninis and he didn’t even say sorry. We added about 6 sugar packets to each and they were still bitter and sour. We ended up with 3 calabrese paninis, 1 grilled cheese panini made of whole wheat bread and two slices of processed cheese and two lemonades that were so sour that my children could not drink them. We figured we would try it as it looked clean and nice. We ordered 3 chicken paninis,a grilled cheese panini, 2 cookies, a muffin, two tea and two lemonades. We were told the other items on the menu were dinner options so could not order them. My family and I arrived just after 11 am and were told there was only one cook and lunch did not begin until noon so we took a drive to lighthouse point and came back at noon. So happy to see this open up in Louisbourg, these are the kinds of things that make us want to stay longer each year. It's such a great alternative to driving 30+ minutes to Sydney. They also run a market on the weekends which is a great place to pick up some local artisan good as well as some fresh greens and treats. We will be here for another month or so and can confidently say that Gaslight will be a recurring spot we visit during our stay. The staff at Gaslight is very friendly and the chef really cares about what he is making/serving. We have had their coffee, snacks and lunch and we could not be happier. Since we got here we have been at Gaslight every day. We were very used to travelling to Sydney for things like coffee or food. We had heard that two cafés had opened up in town and. The only downside to it was that the food choices were very limited. My wife and I vacation here in Louisbourg every year and we love it, it's small, quaint, friendly and quiet. The other thing is they brew a large container of coffee in the morning, and it stand there all day, it isn't busy at all there, so in the afternoon you still are drinking that same coffee, some much for FRESH coffee. He had to tell me that it was tea, no sorry, or I will make a coffee fresh for you, nothing of that. Then I told him, can you smell in that "coffee dispenser" to smell if it is coffee. O, that couldn't be it they said, and he kept arguing with me about the taste. We notified the barrister of the strange taste, and I told him that it tasted like tea. We put more cream in it, and some sugar, normally we don't use sugar, but there was no coffee taste. The cookies were good, but the coffee tasted awful. The second time that we went, we gave them a second change, we ordered coffee, and cookies. have anything to consume with the coffee, no cookies, muffins or other snacks, what is strange for a café. They can make up the prices as they go I guess. No where were there any prices posted, so you have to guess what it will cost for coffee, or other aperitives. We went there last Summer, it was terrible.
